On Sat. Sept.25th there are two contra dances "near" Fairfield.

1. Southeast-of-Fairfield in:
Donnellson, Iowa: “DANCE at the PATCH”: Community-BARN(contra)-DANCE Saturday September 25,
7:00pm-9:00pm. All ages welcome, no partner needed! Featuring caller Jennifer Hamilton, and the Café Ceili Band.
At Kathy’s Pumpkin Patch, 1977 Highway 2, Donnellson, Iowa(One mile east of Donnellson & Highways 27 & 218). Co-sponsored by St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. For more information call 319-561-1311

2. North-of-Fairfield in
Iowa City at the usual place&time:
• dance location is The Center, 28 South Linn Street, downtown Iowa City (corner of Washington and Linn Streets)
• dance from 7:30PM to 10:30 PM
• beginner lessons are held at 7:30 (recommended)

NPR Report:: Youth Flock To Contra Dancing

Contra dancing has been around since the 1700s. If you don't know it -- it's kind of like square dancing but with long lines of dancers. The dance is having a renaissance around the country thanks to a thriving youth scene.

Cancellation / Refund Policy: You can send someone -- a previously unregistered dancer -- in your place and let us know about the substitution. You work out the payment with your friend. Otherwise, no refunds -- it is simply too complicated.

LODGING

With our experience hosting over 18 dance weekends so far, we know what dancers care about and are ready to welcome you with open arms. Home hospitality is available on a limited basis -- first come, first served -- and inns and hotels are available within walking distance from the dance (Landmark Inn & Mainstay Inn) with other motels & inns (Best Western, Super 8, Seven Roses Inn, The Raj Resort) and camping grounds 5-10 minutes from the dance.

Fairfield has an amazing amount to offer our visitors, from the largest community of Stapathya Vedic buildings in North America just north in Vedic City, to the Golden Meditation Domes at Maharishi University of Management to the greener-than-green Eco-Village with its earth-friendly designs and technologies.
